Fully networked emergency services.

Thanks to Vector Resources, this South Bay City has it all.

The problem:

While the City was working with Vector Resources to complete the installation of a data network in a new building housing its police and fire departments, an opportunity arose that was too good to pass up.  Advances in technology made it possible for mobile commuters, such as those installed in police cars, to sync wirelessly with hardwired servers.  Eager to take advantage of emerging technology, the City and Vector moved quickly to include the new capabilities in the department's arsenal.

The solution:
In addition to installing nearly 600 CAT-5e terminations throughout the City building and reterminating the fiber optic backbone that originates at City Hall, Vector teams surveyed the surrounding environment and located the optimal locations for the new wireless access points.  With three access points udnerground and two exposed to the elements, engineers had to lay conduit and junction boxes to house the necessary hardware and wiring.  Standard 128-bit encryption was included as part of the deal.

The future:
With the new wireless network, the city's police officers are able to upload patrol data to the City system and download breaking updates to their onboard computers, all without leaving their vehicles, saving time and increasing force efficiency.  Vector continues to provide service and support to MBPD, keeping the City in a public safety leadering position throughout the region.

How can we help?
