The problem:
The Investment Management Company, a Los Angeles-based equity manager with nearly $35 billion in assets under management, had undergone a hiring surge and needed to expand its operations in its Century City location. The company already occupied two floors of its building, but by the end of the expansion its footprint would more than double in size, encompassing four and a half floors of office space. They turned to Vector Resources to provide the network infrastructure throughout its expanded offices.
The solution:
Working with ginger hands, Vector teams began work on the company's 16-floor offices, working up from there. Without disturbing their investment professionals, Vector engineers upgraded more than 450 workstations with high-bandwidth CAT-6 cable, giving the company the most sophisticated network in its building. At the same time, Vector upgraded the backbone fiber-optic cabling to the firm's main distribution frame server, distributing the trunk signal to 10 Cisco copper switches throughout the installation, and prepared the company for a planned switch to a VoIP system.
By project end, Vector's teams had installed more than 15 miles of high-end cable throughout the facility. As a full-service networking and data provider, Vector also added on to the existing Panasonic CCTV system, installing event-triggered cameras in common area's to safeguard the investment company's valuable corporate art collection.
